Dossier

Student Party Front does not only respond to the documents from the Executive Board. We take a proactive stance, self-initiating and asking around issues that we see students encountering. Read below which initiative proposals we have submitted in previous years.

An important focus point of both the university and Student Party Front is facilitating a 'living campus'. There are currently several facilities on campus. Tilburg University has a wide range of outdoor workplaces and by extending the opening hours of the Mensa, students can go to various places throughout the day. What is missing, however, and which could be a valuable addition to Tilburg University, are outdoor sports facilities on campus. There is currently a sports center, but it is not located on campus. With the following idea, Student Party Front wants to create a balance between body and mind so that the student can perform optimally.

student-assistant-button.jpg

Student Party Front has submitted an initiative for more student assistants, working students and junior assistants. Tilburg University has indicated, for example in the Strategic Plan, to focus on digitization. In addition, there are reports from various quarters that the workload among teachers and staff is sometimes very high. Junior teachers, working students and  student assistants could play a role in this to support the WP and OBP.

2016-2017

Avondcolleges-400x335.png

Student Party Front believes that the university should motivate and facilitate students to be active in addition to their studies. Developing soft skills is becoming increasingly important and a good way to develop them is by being active in addition to your studies. Student Party Front believes that evening lectures limit students' opportunities to be active in addition to their studies. In addition, research has shown that evening lectures are less effective than daytime lectures, as it takes longer to absorb the material in the evening than in the afternoon. In the initiative proposal, Student Party Front argues that all evening lectures should be recorded as standard, so that students can look back at the lecture at a time to see what suits them.

Duurzaamheid-400x335.png

Student Party Front is of the   opinion that Tilburg University should invest more in sustainability. For example, we believe that more needs to be done to raise awareness among students and staff, to increase the visibility of the measures that have already been taken and to create a Green Office. A multi-year plan must also be drawn up, so that a clear vision on sustainability is created.

Fluistersets-400x335.png

On behalf of the University Forum, Student Party Front and Student Party SAM have submitted an initiative proposal for the purchase of whisper sets. The purchase ensures that the quality of the discussions in the University Council and Faculty Councils is guaranteed, while the participation in decision-making remains accessible to everyone.

exchangefilter-400x335.jpg

Student Party Front submitted an initiative proposal to the University Council on 7 October 2016 to set up an exchange filer. Student Party Front has found that finding a suitable exchange destination is currently cumbersome. This concerns the orientation phase and the process of arriving at the three potential destinations. We believe that a more streamlined process will benefit the number of students who will eventually apply. An improvement in this process fits in seamlessly with the pillars of Front; communication, internationalization and the active student. For example, you can filter on; study, semester and/or costs.

Fietsenmaker-400x335.png

Student Party Front and Student Party SAM jointly submitted an initiative proposal to the University Council on 7 October 2016 to realize a bicycle repair shop on campus. This initiative consists of a joint problem sketch, after which both groups present their vision in an appendix.

2015-2016

Studieklimaat-UB-400x335.png

Student Party Front attaches great value to the fact that students experience a positive campus feeling. A pleasant study climate in the university library fits in with this. Front sees various possibilities to improve both this climate and the ease of use in the University Library. These options have been incorporated into five proposals that have been bundled in the initiative proposal Study Climate in the University Library. Namely: access gates, cool safes, PC Availibility and monitor where it is visible, restore reservation system and add print option to standing search computer. While some of these proposals have a positive effect on the concept of 'living campus', others have an effect on the efficient use of the available workplaces.

Videocolleges-400x335.png

Fractie Front believes that flexible education is an important part of the academic environment of a university because it facilitates students to undertake extra-curricular activities, something Fractie Front very much welcomes. Video lectures are in line with this flexible education. Video lectures give students the space to organize their own time and they have the opportunity to review their lectures at any time. Because Student Party Front believes that there is room for improvement at Tilburg University with regard to the number of video lectures, an initiative proposal has been submitted regarding investments in video lectures.

TiU-App-400x335.png

In December 2015, Student Party Front submitted a memo to the Student Advisory Board Library and IT services (SALis) regarding the improvement of the iStudent application. Suggestions that Front has made are.

  • Pop-ups for certain things such as schedule changes, BlackBoard announcements or grades that are added to 'my grades'.

  • Adequate schedule changes. When timetable changes are made, they must also be adequately reflected in the iStudent app.

  • Adequate PC availability. Correct PC availability must be indicated in the app

  • Option for study associations to create their own page

  • Register for exams via the app

  • Recharge student card via the app

  • Link BlackBoard (announcements) to the app

  • Same quality of the Android version as the IOS version

Verplichte-colleges-400x335.png

Student Party Front has heard the opinion of students through a survey about making lectures compulsory. This survey has been conducted because Student Party Front has received various complaints about this form of education. What the survey showed is that many students do not consider compulsory lectures necessary and that whether or not attending lectures is the responsibility of the students themselves. On the basis of this information, Student Party Front submits this proposal, which in principle calls for a regulation in which lectures can in any case no longer be made compulsory and there must be a weighty basis for tutorials.

2014-2015

Harmonisatie-OER-400x335.png

With its campus on which the faculties are jointly located, Tilburg University is a unique university. Despite this, there is a lack of a joint minimum of basic rights for all students laid down in the Education and Examination Regulations (OER), as a result of which certain rights do not apply to every student. A student studying at Tilburg University should have a minimum of basic rights and protections that are equal for every student. Student Party Front therefore initiates the OER Guideline.

In collaboration with TiU International. This proposal is entirely in English .

In this proposal “food for all tastes” we make a number of suggestions to increase the variety of food options on campus and to provide more choice. Our specific suggestions are: 1) Broader selection of vegetables and meat substitutes, possible through a system of components for warm food options. 2) Reintroduction of the standard salad bar in the main cafeteria. 3) Food stands should be open and meals should be available until the regular closing times. 4) Access to microwaves at a central location on campus. 5) Additional food vendors should have options to sell food on campus.

Harmonisatie-Cursusevaluatie-400x335.png

Every student receives the course evaluations when they have completed a course. The response percentages for these are very low, while these evaluations are used in results and development interviews, by the program committees and sometimes even for promotions. It is therefore important for the quality of education that these evaluations are completed. That is why Student Party Front has submitted a proposal to implement the system that is also used at the Free University.

Scriptorium-400x335.png

Student Party Front believes that the Scriptorium should be a basic facility for all students. Currently, the access options per faculty differ. That is why, together with Student Party SAM, we submitted an initiative proposal, which aims to give all students equal access to the scriptor.

A survey has shown that there is a need among students for longer opening hours of the Student Desk. Student Party Front believes that the Student Desk should be accessible to all students, including those who do not have the opportunity to visit the Student Desk during the day, for example due to an internship or the fact that they are part-time students. That is why Student Party Front has submitted an initiative proposal regarding a pilot for opening hours of the Student Desk during the evenings, one day a week.

Engels-docenten-400x335.png

Partly due to complaints from student faction ECCO (TiSEM Faculty Council), we have investigated the possibilities of improving the English of employees. This often proved insufficient. Every employee receives a test from the Language Center. Unfortunately, many employees do not pass this test, but nothing is done about it. Student Party Front proposes to make passing this test compulsory, or to include English in the BKO (Basic Education Qualification).

2013-2014

Tilburg University has a lot to offer in terms of study facilities, especially due to the existence of the university library. The extended opening hours of this library on weekends, the library is open until midnight this year instead of until 6 pm, is therefore frequently used. This sounds ideal, but dining facilities are lacking. That is why Student Party Front get suggested offering (cheap) lunch/meals, especially on weekends, a kiosk/canteen/lunchrome/cafeteria/mensa/sandwich bar or access to microwave(s).

The library of Tilburg University is freely accessible and is therefore frequently visited by students of Tilburg University as well as students from other institutions and secondary school students. This visit mainly consists of occupying a student workplace. This would not pose any problems, if there was sufficient space for Tilburg University students. That is why Student Party Front submitted a proposal to grant access to the library only to Tilburg University students.
