Our vision

Front was founded in 2006 with a distinctive vision on the philosophy of the Active Student. Recognizing the increasing demand from employers for students with extensive resumes, Front is committed to creating sufficient development opportunities so that students can distinguish themselves and make the most of their student time. To represent the active student as best as possible, we employ the following three pillars:

- Internationalization

- Digitization

- Living Campus

Below is an video that briefly explains what we do and what our vision means.

Active student

In addition to the fact that Front is committed to every student at Tilburg University, we mainly focus on students who consciously go 'the extra mile'. Nowadays it is often not enough to study alone. As a student, you should be given the opportunity to develop optimally during your student days.

But who are those students who consciously go the extra mile? Front sees an active student as a student who:

  • Consciously chooses to do more than what is purely necessary for his or her studies;

  • Develops himself through the development of activities in a personal and academic field;

  • Distinguishes himself or herself positively from fellow students through the commitment to and the result of his or her studies;

  • Makes an extra contribution to the university community through his or her efforts and activities.

Front therefore finds it very important that the opportunities for an active student life next to your studies remain there and will always continue to strive for this. This means that efforts are made in the field of facilities, support and guidance to make this possible.

Internationalization

Tilburg University is increasingly internationally oriented. There is a busy exchange of knowledge, students and teachers between our university and many universities in other countries. Tilburg University aspires to an increasing degree of student participation in exchange programmes. In addition, the university supports international students who come to the Netherlands. One example is the provision of information at the university, which is completely converted into English. Front therefore considers it of great importance that both international and Dutch students are assisted in the context of internationalization. Front focuses, among other things, on the provision of information and housing for international students. Better integration of international students and distance exams are also subjects we are committed to.

Digitization

Due to the Covid-19 crisis, we have seen how important digitization is in education. Front would like to see the best practices of the crisis taken into account for the future. In addition, you could already see before the crisis that there is increasing pressure on higher education in the Netherlands and universities are increasingly being forced to reform. Front believes that a large part of the solution can be found in the digitization of education and therefore wants Tilburg University to grow along with this trend. In addition to digitizing education in the form of, among other things, recording video lectures and knowledge clips, Front believes that there is still room for improvement in communication between student and university. By making information easy and accessible for students in both the app and on the website and by digitizing part of the Student Desk, Front hopes to improve communication and make the process of gathering information less time-consuming.

Living Campus

The compact campus of Tilburg University is unique in the Netherlands and Front sees this campus as an extremely important place, because students spend a large part of their student days here. Front believes that this campus should be designed in such a way that students can study here optimally, but also relax. Front strives to improve the experience on campus by, for example, improving the dining options, expanding the sports facilities, expanding the number of (outdoor) workplaces, but also, for example, the service provision when it comes to student welfare. Due to the growth of Tilburg University, the campus will change in the short term and a number of buildings will be renovated and newly built. Sustainability is a top priority at Front and in addition to striving for a 'green' campus, Front also wants to increase students' awareness of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
