What do we do?

The most important work of the Front faction members is to represent the students of Tilburg in the University Council. In addition, we also maintain good contact with the Faculty Council and participate in consultations with administrative organizations at local and national level. Below we have listed how the University Council   works and where we work at university , locally and national level .

The University Council

the highest decision-making body of Tilburg University

University-wide matters are handled that apply to the entire university.

Before the University Council takes place, preparatory work is carried out in committee meetings. These three committees are: Executive Board (DB), Finance & Infrastructure (CFI) and Education, Research & Impact (OO&I). In the DB, the Executive Board meets with the political groups about strategic matters and personnel policy. The CFI mainly deals with financial affairs, real estate and facilities. OO&I discusses changes in education, research and impact.

Week 1 - Establish agenda

On Thursday morning, the DB sets the University Council's agenda. A day later, the agenda, together with the documents as much as possible, will be circulated.

Week 2 - Piece Meetings

The faction has a meeting of documents this week in which all documents are discussed and a joint position is formed. If deemed necessary, the group will seek contact with interested parties. In addition, the preliminary consultations for the committee meetings will take place this week. The chairman and secretary of the committees consult with the Executive Board portfolio holder about the agenda for the committee meetings of the following week. For the O,O&I committee this is the Rector Magnificus and for the CFI committee this is the vice-chairman of the CVB.

Week 3 - Committee Meetings

The CFI meeting takes place on Monday, OO&I on Tuesday and the DB on Thursday. The committee and DB recommendations are then sent on Friday by the registry (the secretariat).

Week 4 - University Council

On Wednesday morning, the DB prepares the University Council. The University Council meeting takes place on Thursday morning. After the meeting, the Pleekrant is sent to the printer to keep students informed of current developments. In addition, we send all board members a Board newspaper with an extensive summary of the University Council meeting. The items on the provisional agenda for the next University Council are also quoted in this Board newspaper in order to form the starting point for dialogue.

Travelers Consultation Brabant

During the working groups, matters concerning public transport in Central Brabant are discussed. Front is mainly here to improve transport to the University. This mainly concerns the number of buses and the connection between the bus times and the lectures.

Get Active Tilburg

The 'Word Actief Tilburg' committee is responsible for an awareness campaign for students who are not (yet) active next to their studies. In addition, the committee keeps students informed about what Tilburg has to offer in this area. Tilburg has a wide range of organizations and committees in which students can become active. Word Actief Tilburg gives students an overview of this. This committee is an initiative of Front, TiGeAk and SOTS, all organizations that consider the 'active student' very important. The committee consists of a group of students who are active in different fields and in different organizations.

SALIS

Through SALIS, the Student Advisory Council Library and IT Services, Front provides solicited and unsolicited advice on important general developments in the field of IT and scientific information provision. SALIS was established by the Executive Board and meets several times under the chairmanship of the director of Library and IT services. A topic that is currently on the agenda is the access-restricting measures for the library, this is being investigated at the initiative of Front. In recent years, Front has raised topics such as MySIS, no-shows during exams and the library's reservation system during the meetings.

TiGeAk

TiGeAk is a consultative body for the representatives of the study associations. The consultative body was established to discuss and resolve problems and issues among themselves. A second aim is to stimulate mutual cooperation and contacts. Front maintains close contact with TiGeAk to keep abreast of all possible developments.

Faculty Councils

Front maintains contact with Fraction Active TLS, Fraction Vrijspraak (TLS), Fraction Active TSB, Fraction Stimulus (TSB), Fraction Active TiSEM, Fraction ECCO (TiSEM), Fraction Active TSHD, Fraction Dante (TSH) and the students in the faculty council of TST.

University Forum

Under the motto 'together we are strong', the University Forum was established in 2016, a new partnership of student participation bodies. Fractions Front and SAM, the Faculty Councils and the student assessors of Tilburg University have joined forces to create a single platform, where they come together to discuss all matters discussed in the various bodies.

By meeting, exchanging ideas and learning from each other, the quality of student participation is increased and we as students are even better represented in university politics. In this way we together form the voice for Tilburg students.
